PARTNERSHIPS
HEAL works in partnership with the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing, and School of Dentistry.
Our staff members work alongside LSU students who gain experience as part of their curriculum and/or clinical rotations.
Our training goes beyond practical application. We provide a well-rounded education by teaching these future health professionals to look at the Whole Child, taking in physical, mental, and social considerations. We teach and encourage empathy.
As part of their senior project, these LSU graduate students created and led an Emotional Wellness class.
The grad students administered “Emotional IQ” tests and worked with tools such as the “Feelings Chart” to provide children with tools to identify their feelings, vocabulary words to articulate them, and ways to manage their feelings and regulate their own behavior.
HEAL also works with LSU students to create and teach hygiene classes in schools.
